Question: How Can You Block Or Prevent Other People From Sending You Negative Energy Or Thoughts?
This is something we all need to put a little thought into. We know that thoughts shape our world. But we also know that we are all out here sending out thoughts. It’s not just you. When someone is thinking about you, you pick up on those thoughts, sometimes subconsciously, sometimes consciously. When someone is having negative thoughts about you, charged with emotion (jealously, anger, disdain, etc), it can have a negative effect on you. Maybe you wake up one day and feel off. You feel frustrated, or anxious and you don’t know why. Maybe there is absolutely no reason for you to feel that way, but the feeling is undeniable. It throws off your mojo for the whole day, ultimately impacting your goals, and your ability to craft your own ideal life. No one should have that kind of power over you. But you cannot control what other people think. Haters gonna hate.
What you can control is your own reaction to it. You can (1) recognize when someone else is infiltrating your mind or energy, (2) put an end to the infiltration, and (3) set up a protective boundary to prevent further contamination. When you feel off – when you are having feelings that don’t seem to match what they should be – ask yourself whose feelings are these? Who is feeling this? With practice, the answer will come to you. You might be taking it in from a relative, a friend, an adversary, or even from what you watch on TV or what you read about in the news. Once you recognize that these feelings are not yours, you can detach from them and send them on their way.
To stop the infiltration, meditate on releasing the feeling and sending it back to where It came from. Then, fill the void with the feeling you do want, like gratitude, love, etc. If you know who sent the negative thoughts, you might consider sending them some positive thoughts as an antidote. You see, if you received their negative energy, it means you have an open channel with them, otherwise you would not have received it. But channels between people go both ways. You may want to purify the channel with positive thoughts, and possibly imagine sealing it shut for a while. Just imagine a door or clamp shutting off the channel. If the offense is aggressive, disconnect the channel completely. Imagine saying, “This conversation is over. This channel is shutting down. I will no longer receive your energy or thoughts. And you will not receive mine.” Or make up the phrases that seem right to you.
You might then consider setting up a protective shield of sorts to filter out negative thought and energy sent your way. There are several ways to do that, depending on your skill level and stage. If you know Reiki, you can use it to clear and close the channel, to strengthen your own energy field, and to encase you in positive energy. If you are skilled in other forms of energy work, you can use them similarly. Regardless, it helps to imagine a protective field around you that filters out that which does not serve you. Healthy boundaries come in all varieties. If it helps, cross your arms in front of you in an X shape and imagine that each hand is flowing out energy forming a protective sphere around you. Overall, experiment with these methods to see what works for you.
