Hey, there little loves! About once every year or two I find it is necessary to retrain my beliefs and behaviors to better suit my life and where I want to go. To do that, I make a list and read it every day. It’s an astoundingly simple thing to do that works better for me than sex, drugs, rock n roll or even therapy.
Here my current daily reading for myself:
- Moments = fleeting opportunity
- Actively pursue joy, love, flow, and exceptional moments
- Revel in the flow of your river
- Cap your downside high and let your upside ride
- Act in the best interest of yourself AND your family, friends, community and world
- Gratitude leads to Love leads to Joy
- Have no expectation. Flow in your river. Live as both the energy and the manifestation.
- Give all that can come through you.
- Read the world: people, places, things, for what they can teach you.
- Chasing money or using my time for someone else’s agenda are no longer in my best interest.
- I return to the purity of childhood – playful exploration without agendas or task lists, flowing in the moment.
- I do not chase the favor of anyone
- I have chosen this path as others have chosen theirs
As I re-frame new bullet points for myself, I often keep some of the older ones. It has become something of a life philosophy for me that I can refer to when I am not sure what to do.
Ray Dalio, in his book, Principles, suggests something similar – creating a set of foundational principles from which you can make good decisions and not lead yourself astray. I will take that one step further and say that you need to re-train yourself by embedding your principles in your mind as part of your daily life.
What do you want YOUR principles to be?
