Art Is Creation Despite Forces Working To Destroy It

This lesson came in a dream one night. In the dream, I was at a massive party, celebrating some unknown happy thing, at a massive estate of big beautiful houses and gardens. I didn’t know anyone there but I kind of did know them. At one point it was time for an activity making paintings. People passed around canvases and brushes and paint. There were big beautiful carts and easels. Everyone began to paint and create. And just as quickly, things started to get in the way of that creation. Small children ran through the space scattering brushes and paint and canvas everywhere. Dogs and animals of all kinds disrupted and made messes. I became frustrated by these natural and expected occurrences and how they seem to try and stop the creations that were happening, not out of malice, just out of some natural order of things. At that point, a man approached me in the dream and said, “This is the lesson: art is creation despite forces working to destroy it.” I got it. There is a natural order to the universe wherein forces generally work to decay, break down, destroy, or otherwise increase entropy and randomness. These natural forces are the opposite of creation. These natural forces of entropy, often interpreted as destruction, are balanced by the force of creation.  And what is the force of creation? We are. Consciousness is. I AM. Consciousness creates, and that force of creation is balanced by the force of entropy or decay or destruction. Art is expression through creation, despite and maybe even as an answer to the natural force of destruction. So the natural force of destruction, decay and entropy is necessary for creation. It provides us the material to create with. It provides us with the contrast necessary for meaning. There’s it is. There is no meaning in expressing or creating or accomplishing that which was not met with some form of opposition, challenge, or potential destruction. The more opposition, the greater the meaning. So we, as creators, as they who express, exist to balance the natural forces of decay, and the natural forces of decay exist to balance and give meaning to our expression. And our creations, as they are decayed through time, through forgetting, and through physical destruction, offer their materials back up to the soil of the universe, making it even more fertile ground for creation. There is nobility in allowing your creations to return to the entropy, fertilizing the universe, and in creating again. Embracing the ephemeral and cyclical nature of our existence and our expression, we find freedom. Within that freedom is another level of creativity without fear.
