Question: Do I Need A Partner Who Is At A Similar Stage? No. But Here Is What You DO Need In A Partner.

, ,
When seeking a partner for this life, we often make a list of desirable traits. Once you understand the stages of your journey, you might wonder if you need a partner in the same stage? Or a partner who is into meditation or yoga or some other common aspect of the journey. The answer is so much simpler than that.
First, it is nearly impossible for you and your partner to be in the same stage at the same time. We cycle through our stages over and over, but generally spend more time in later and later stages giving us the sense of progress. Because it is a cycle, we don’t stay put in one stage so trying to match with our partner who is also cycling is impossible.
That being said, it helps to have a partner who is at least awake and on the journey and maybe likes to talk about concepts of beliefs vs principles, mind, energy, consciousness etc. For example, it’s hard for someone awake and fascinated with energy to be stuck in conversations about politics. Or if you are in the early stages, it is challenging to have a partner who is not awake at all. So to both be on the journey or at lease awake is useful. The good news is that most adults wake up between 27 and 36 years old, even if they don’t choose to take the journey.
Other than that, the critical thing is having a partner who supports you wholeheartedly in whatever you need or desire. If the support is there, they don’t necessarily need to be a meditator, or an energy worker, or care one bit about the journey. It’s all ultimately about supporting each other’s dreams regardless of what they are. It’s about helping them towards what is important to them because it is important to them, not because it is necessarily important to you too.  The fact that it is important to you should be enough for your partner to support you to the fullest extent possible. To quote Metallica, “and nothing else matters”.
