Digital. 2011-2013. This piece was a minimalist study of the most basic form of beauty – flowers and leaves. I was curious about color blocking as a means to reduce it to it’s most basic form and thereby focus on what it is that makes flowers and leaves to beautiful and pleasing to us. I used colors not often associated with leaves to eliminate color as the obvious but not interesting reason we like flower and leaves so much. The conclusion is that it is something about the dichotomy of general shape: both sharp and rounded, soft and sharp. There is something balanced about that.
