They were a very young group of young men singing about unrequited love and various things that very young men think are important. I found myself feeling really really cynical, lambasting their young naivety. Then I thought… what a terrible thing to think! Naivety is the most beautiful thing about youth. Unscarred from the slings and arrows of life, they are so clueless but in a way I am jealous of that more pure state.

Chords And Lyrics

No capo

A Em G Cadd9

A Em
Hey young one, You’re too young to see
G
Go get your heart broken, Get your innocence stolen
Cadd9
then get back to me

A Em
Hey young one, A life without pain
G
Is a life without gain, A life without fame
Cadd9
A life without shame

———
A Em
When they say your not old enough
G Cadd9
They mean you ain’t cold enough
A Em
But naivety it seems to me
G A
such a splendid splendid thing to be

A Em
Hey young one
G A
beautiful naivety

A Em
Hey young one
G A
beautiful naivety

A Em G Cadd9

A Em
Hey young one, You think they know
G
But there’s pain in their hearts, They can’t even start
Cadd9
To see what you’re capable of

——–
BREAK
A Em
Hey young one
G
yeah you don’t know
A
but neither do they
G
yeah you don’t know
A
but neither do they
———

A Em
When they say your not old enough
G Cadd9
They mean you ain’t cold enough
A Em
But naivety it seems to me
G A
such a splendid splendid thing to be

A Em
Hey young one
G A
beautiful naivety

A Em
Hey young one
G A
beautiful naivety
———

A Em G Cadd9

A Em
Hey young one, Don’t listen to me
G
Cause the pain that I’ve seen, the scars that run deep
Cadd9
Have twisted all that I see

A Em
Hey young one
G A
beautiful naivety

A Em
Hey young one
G A
beautiful naivety

A Em
oooooooooooh
G A
beautiful naivety
G (slow) A
beautiful naivety

An original song, with chords and lyrics, reflecting on the beauty of youthful naivety — how the unscarred innocence of the young, though clueless, is a pure state that the older and more scarred can come to envy rather than mock.

[30,20
331,328,69,330,332,195

post-724","project","type-project","status-publish","hentry","project_category-becoming","project_category-music","project_tag-aging","project_tag-becoming","project_tag-music","project_tag-naivety","project_tag-society","project_tag-youth
For anyone reflecting on youth, innocence and the scars that come with experience.
