How do you get 8 BILLION people to stop fighting and start helping each other?

An acquaintance in Afghanistan once told me that there is no hope for peace in his country. Generation after generation know only war. How can they even imagine peace? While I don’t doubt a significant lack of hope in that country, from the outside we all have faith that hope and peace can be restored there one day.

But faith and hope are not a strategy. Action is required. There are amazing people working this from the top. The Peace One Day initiative, founded by Jeremy Gilley, asks world leaders, individuals and even insurgent groups to pause all fighting for one single day of nonviolence every September 21st. And it works. The international day of peace has been adopted by an increasing number of heads of state and even terrorist groups. Let me repeat that… terrorist groups agreed to a day of peace and nonviolence. This day allows medical NGOs to go into conflict zones and deliver needed vaccinations and medical care to those who would not normally have access to it. Nobody thought it could be done. But they did it. How? They wrote letters, they travelled the world and they asked. So clearly there is more than hope for peace in Afghanistan. There is an established day.

This kind of top-down effort has immediate impact, and some significant ripple effects. But how do you turn one day into everyday. That is where the bottom-up approach comes in. You have to solve the source of the problem… the reason there is violence in the first place. How?

We will get there…

Now take a moment to think about another subject… your own personal journey. Your journey of self development, asking the big questions, looking inside yourself to find your truth; your path to personal peace. As you travel this path, you make peace with yourself, with others, and with your world. You accept yourself, you accept others (even if you disagree with them), and you arrive at a beautiful perspective on yourself, others and life. You are personally at peace, even if you live in a stressful environment. At some point, you decide to live and let live. You stop having grudges, and you stop getting angry and offended, because you can see the humanity in others and in yourself. When you reach this stage (Stage Six and above on the cycle of human development), you do not start conflict, war or violence. You just have no interest in it. Other parts of life are so much more interesting and exciting.

What if every person in a particular town had reached Stage Six (live and let live)? It would be a very peaceful town where people pursue their own paths of interest and help their neighbors when in need. Now what if everyone in the world had reached Stage Six? It would be a very peaceful world indeed. Entire counties would have no interest in war or violence. This would affect their choice of leaders and their governments at large.

But let’s get real. You will never have one hundred percent of humanity in Stage Six. You see, new people are always being born. 250 new lives enter this world every minute. And they must traverse the cycle of human development just like the rest of us. They must start with Stage One and address each stage in turn. So there will always be people in Stage Three, focused on their needs; disregarding others and hurting others to fulfill their own ends. And there will always be people in Stage Five, so focused on their ideologies that they cannot see their own humanity much less the humanity of others. In short, there will always be some small segment of humanity who is willing to hurt others and start violence. This is statistically unavoidable.

But what if the overwhelming majority of humanity was past all of that? What if the number of people in Stage Three and Stage Five is so small that they are effectively neutralized. What if each town and neighborhood connects deeply with each other, offering the kind of real connection that will naturally move these individuals to later stages. What if at any one moment, the number of people traversing these more challenging stages is so small that calls for violence and exploitation never achieve critical mass? That would be a very peaceful world indeed.

So the answer to lasting global peace is to help each individual find personal peace for themselves.

Now suppose you already found personal peace. Could you guide someone else, a dear friend or relative, though that journey? Of course you can. Especially if you had a roadmap they could use to largely guide themselves. If you mentor them a little based on your own experience, and you encourage them in their journey, they will achieve that personal peace much faster (months instead of years). Can you help TWO people in this way? Of course! It costs nothing and takes shockingly little of your time.

What if you mentored two people to achieve personal peace. And then they mentored two people each. And they, in turn, mentored two people each. You get the idea. It’s a Geometric Series! In the beginning you have affected the lives of two people, then a total of six people, … but 32 steps after you start, you have affected over 8.5 BILLION people!

And THAT is entirely possible. First help yourself, then help two others and encourage them to help two others. If one individual can reach personal peace in 6-12 months, then we are quite realistically less than 32 years from global peace. And possibly a lot closer than that. Because most people are in the Stage Four to Stage Five range already, I believe we are more like 15 years away. And all YOU have to do is spend 6 months HELPING YOURSELF, and then 6 months helping just TWO other people that you care about. That’s it! Sit back and watch your tree branch grow.

LastingPeace.org is here to make sure you have the Roadmap, and resources to make your own journey, and that of others, efficient, effective and even fun and to track your tree branch as it grows from your neighborhood across the whole world.

Join me!

An argument that lasting global peace is achievable through a bottom-up approach of helping each person reach personal peace and Stage Six, paired with top-down efforts like Peace One Day, so that violence never reaches critical mass.

[31,1884
1734,36,654,180,280,649,981,1732,1115,1735,947,138,343,1452,977,308,1248,655,302,186,979,978,284,980,605,1361,283

post-2196","project","type-project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","project_category-observations","project_category-society","project_tag-32-steps","project_tag-art","project_tag-complete-connection","project_tag-connection","project_tag-cycle","project_tag-cycle-of-human-development","project_tag-finding-peace","project_tag-global-peace","project_tag-helping-others","project_tag-helping-yourself","project_tag-human-development","project_tag-individual","project_tag-joy","project_tag-lasting-peace","project_tag-life-optimization","project_tag-peace","project_tag-poetry","project_tag-purna-asatti","project_tag-religion","project_tag-science","project_tag-seeing-yourself","project_tag-self-mastery","project_tag-self-development","project_tag-self-improvement-2","project_tag-self-understanding","project_tag-spirituality","project_tag-stages
For readers who long for global peace but doubt it is possible, laying out a person-by-person path to get there. 32 Steps develops this vision of humanity's evolution.
Dr. Kathryn Messegee (Kathryn Colleen), "Global Peace In Our Lifetime - Covering Humanity In 32 Steps," https://kathryncolleen.com/studio/project/global-peace-in-our-lifetime-covering-humanity-in-32-steps/
spirit","growth
32 Steps
https://shop.lightningsource.com/b/085?FicT6xazLXFLcrFpk6iu0jhiUkzBgTMFbVNP3um9R8n
https://kathryncolleen.com/studio/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/17172FBD-36AD-45C3-B0BB-246B4A7C7E30.png
https://kathryncolleen.com/studio/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/CCA57320-6DC3-4284-BC27-49E433028503.jpeg

Global Peace In Our Lifetime – Covering Humanity In 32 Steps

/*!
