What they found were three very large uterine fibroids that were growing at a disturbing rate. The answer was a total hysterectomy ASAP.

I was referred to a specialist who does robotic laparoscopic hysterectomies. In a stroke of divine intervention, as I was walking into her office, someone cancelled for a near term surgery date and I booked it! Surgery was December 9th and I am recovering.

Abdominal surgery is no joke and this particular surgery requires significant recovery time. I gave myself a week off (because I am an over-achieving fool). I took several meetings the second week and learned the hard way that I needed to give myself a lot more space to heal and process. I watched myself in shock as I did something I have never done before: I cleared my calendar of all meetings for a further 2.5 weeks.

It’s a good time of year to block off your calendar. Most people are busy with holiday parties, family visits and fun. The universe sees fit that I will be spending a couple of months focused on rest and reflection instead. I AM a bit of a workaholic. It’s just that I feel so purposeful in what we are doing. But I am blessed with an amazing team of people who have picked up the ball and are keeping everything moving forward at pace.

So here come the lessons. Recovery is hard. It is hard for me to be dependent on others. It is hard to feel worthy of the kind of care I am receiving. It is hard not to feel like a burden. It is hard to feel like I am not contributing.

Everything, and in particular the big things, are put in your path for a reason. This was a finger-of-God event. I think there are many gifts here. I am forced to step back and let others lead, and to let others take care of me. I am forced to receive love and care without being able to give. I am forced to face my own sense of unworthiness to receive. I am so blessed to have so many people checking on me and supporting me. I am just so blessed. In the middle of this adversity is so much love and a sense that God is moving.

If you are going through something hard right now, look for the love. Allow the lessons that turn adversity into transformation. Allow this experience to change you into who you need to be for the next chapter of your life. That is my homework.

May you be abundantly blessed with all the love you can stand.

Peace and light!

Guru Kathryn

A diary account of an emergency ER visit revealing uterine fibroids, an urgent hysterectomy, and a difficult recovery, exploring lessons about dependence, receiving care, worthiness, and letting others lead during a forced season of rest.

[5
44,1419,864,540,1625,1926,1781,357,1005,1003,1481,944,934,1454,1460,1002,43,1929,1927,865,371,879,354,1006,355,1004,372,358,1589,1928
post-7126","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-diary","tag-art","tag-business","tag-complete-connection","tag-connection","tag-consciousness","tag-consciousness-mastery","tag-couples","tag-cycle","tag-cycle-of-human-development","tag-finding-peace","tag-global-peace","tag-human-development","tag-kathryn-colleen","tag-lasting-peace","tag-lastingpeace-org","tag-life-optimization","tag-music","tag-personal","tag-podcasts","tag-purna-asatti","tag-religion","tag-roadmap","tag-seeing-yourself","tag-self-mastery","tag-self-development","tag-self-improvement","tag-spirituality","tag-stages","tag-understanding-people","tag-writing
For anyone facing sudden illness or forced rest; a tender reflection on receiving love, confronting feelings of unworthiness, and letting adversity become transformation.
Dr. Kathryn Messegee (Kathryn Colleen), "A Surprise Surgery Offers Transformative Lessons And A Slower December," https://kathryncolleen.com/studio/a-surprise-surgery-offers-transformative-lessons-and-a-slower-december/
health","growth","spirit
["GET
