A long chain of uncanny events culminated in meeting the love of my life. It seemed as if the hand of fate intervened half a dozen times to place me in the right place at the right time. And life has never been the same. So in honor of this most perfect day, today’s post is a love story in song lyrics. And before you ask: yes, I actually said something that dorky, and yes, every bit of it is true, right down to the former crackhouse…

I’m never in San Francisco
But Dan said I had to, I had to
Be at this meeting; It’s gotta be you
By the way… it doesn’t pay
You’ll have to pay your own way. Do it anyway.
And just in case leave an extra day
OK. I did it anyway.
Geniuses, characters, I was like a child
Days fascinating, nights wild
But I didn’t need that extra day; maybe i’ll be on my way
I think I’ll go ahead home, change my flight
I had no idea what would happen that night
Lost my wallet in the back of a long black car
Outside that former crack house rooftop party bar
Well it was dark and black and that driver wouldn’t come back
till the next day
guess I’m not leaving early
Went swing dancing with Michael and that’s when I learned
How a queen should be treated and love should be earned
Finally to the airport, wallet in hand
feeling my mojo, boarding area, I saw a man
Like a scene from a movie he was all I could see
The world disappeared and it was just he
Is he looking at me when I look away
Ten rows away on the plane he had no chance to say.
Landing in Dulles I guess my chance has gone
Till I get to the bus, you know that funny little bus and I walk on.
This gorgeous man is standing in my favorite spot.
Now’s my chance. I’m gonna take my shot
I stand next to him, look over and smile
That’s usually all it takes and he says… Nothing. Damn.
What’s a girl gotta do? What’s a girl gotta do?
Something pushes me forward and says
Talk to him.
Deep breath.
I comment on the technology in the bus
Some kind of nerdy pick up
He goes to reply and he can’t speak
Choking on his own shock and me
Please tell me you’ve talked to women before
He gets it together; and we walk out the door
One date, leads to another and it feels like home
Four weeks later, inseparable
He says, I’m not supposed to tell you I love you this soon
I said: yeah…. You’re not
Two weeks more and I work up the courage
to admit the truth
I feel the same
This is the part where you run away, I said
Nope. He states flatly – I’m not going anywhere.
I’m not going anywhere without you
I’m not going anywhere without you
True story

– “True Story”, by Kathryn Colleen (Album: Finding Zen).

A love story told through the lyrics of the song “True Story,” recounting the chain of chance events that led the author to meet her partner while traveling, from a lost wallet to a fateful airport bus.

[5
207,206,205,203,204
post-508","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-diary","tag-dating","tag-guides","tag-letting-go","tag-love","tag-travel
For readers who love a true, serendipitous romance told in song, tracing how a string of coincidences brought two people together.
Dr. Kathryn Messegee (Kathryn Colleen), "How We Met - A Love Story," https://kathryncolleen.com/studio/how-we-met-a-love-story/
relationships","music","essays
["GET
