Yes, it\u2019s true. I don\u2019t – at the moment – do marketing. That is, I don\u2019t have a sales effort, I don\u2019t do press releases or media interviews other than podcasts. I don\u2019t advertise or pitch companies for consulting. Why? It\u2019s messy, complicated, and I am really really bad at it. Really. All that adds up to make me really not want to do it. So I don\u2019t. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So how am I growing my business? I\u2019m not. I don\u2019t actively grow my audience. They just find me. As for growing the business as in revenue, I don\u2019t seek it. What few clients or speaking engagements I am willing to take on, find me. I don\u2019t pursue them. Let me explain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a legacy project. I am not here to make money. I am here to help people find peace and joy, one person at a time. I \u201cretired\u201d when I was 39. Now I am free to help others. Any money that comes in from books sales, speaking, etc is rolled back in to that mission. It\u2019s not about growing a business (been there and done that, more than once), it\u2019s about making my contribution \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I get it. That is weird. I am 44 and I am not trying to make money or grow a business or make it big. It\u2019s not about the dollars. And sometimes that really throws people for a loop. But I am free and one thing I have done with that freedom is question and ultimately reject those more typical standards. I have chosen to craft a very different but very fulfilling life. It\u2019s not that everyone should follow suit. It\u2019s just what\u2019s right for me right now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
