We Store Emotional Pain In The Body. Why Do We Not Store Joy? And What Is It To Let It All Go?

,
We go through life making choices and having experiences. Some of those experiences are pleasant and some are unpleasant. We feel joy and we feel sadness, and a many other emotions. We then take the negative emotions and store them in the physical body. For example, if you recall an emotionally painful memory and ask yourself where you feel it, it will feel like it is embedded in your body somewhere.
In contrast, if you recall a major joyous moment in your life, and ask yourself where you feel it, it is more likely to be felt in the brain only. The exception to this is moments of love, which seem to be stored in the heart. We store it all as memories, but for some reason we take the pain and store it all over our physical being as well. F
rom an evolutionary perspective, it makes sense. You don’t need to feel joy to stay alive and get your genes into the next generation. But you do need to avoid pain. My theory is that we store the pain in the body as a sort of survival focused memory bank to make darn sure we don’t repeat the same mistake. But so often the mistake was an emotional or social one and not actually relevant to our physical survival. The system doesn’t care. Pain is pain in our primitive bodies. It is all categorized in the same way as if your life depends on not repeating that unpleasant experience.
The question then is: what if we released the pain from the body-storage, but kept the brain-memory so that we don’t repeat the mistake but also don’t carry the pain? How can we release the pain from being stored in the body? The answer is INTENTION and energy work.
The intention to release pain (or anything you are holding) from the body, is powerful. Intention is everything in so many ways. But our intention is often blocked by our subconscious mind who doesn’t really actually want to let go. Sometimes we identify with the pain as a part of who we are. It’s as if we are a resume of painful experiences and if we let one go we are somehow less qualified.
What would happen if we let go of all the painful experiences held in our bodies? We would have to let go of who we were in their aftermath. We would have to let the regret and victimization go. We would have to let go of the past, the past occurrences, and the past selves wholesale. What would it be to purify like that? What would it be to keep only the love, joy, bliss, connection and light within us?
OR, what would it be to let it all go in every moment? These are the experiences I want now. Purification. Cleansing of emotional selves. Release of past records of pain and sacrifice. Release of any sense of self defined on negative grounds. I know, within me, that to let go of the negative requires letting go of the positive too. What is it to let all emotion come and go, to store nothing in the body but brain-memories? I call this experience to me now.
