As we celebrate Geode’s first exchange listing on BitMart, I want to share some of our history you might not know, give gratitude to the people that got us here and highlight the lessons we have learned along the way.
The Geode project started on February 26th 2022 at the JW Marriott in Savannah Georgia where the hotel lobby inspired the name. Look up the pictures, it’s worth it.
The biggest thanks to my Husband and co-founder, Tom. Boy are we lucky to have you. You built the portal, the app pages, and single handedly kept me sane through the last four years of this project which included losing two of our parents, an emergency major surgery and plenty of other struggles that we refused to let slow us down.
The first year was all about the legal aspects and the building a stable MainNet. They said you need 2 million dollars to launch a layer one chain. They were wrong. We did it for free. They said we were crazy to build in the United States, that we needed to leave the country. They were wrong. The US is now one of the most pro-crypto countries in the world.
Thank you to the earliest adopters and believers. I won’t doxx you. You know who you are. To the people that came on to a brand new chain to be validators and nominators, cheerleaders and moral support. Thank you, Suzanne, Bradley, Ganesh, Cube, Trails, Michelle, Harmony, Patrick, Ellie, Maxwell. Thank you to my Mom, to Tom’s Dad and brother Tim.
2023 and 2024 at Geode were about building useful apps. They said we were crazy, that defi and cartoons were all that was worth building. They said it wasn’t worth trying to make a difference for everyday people, that everyday people weren’t ready. They were wrong. There are now 1.4 billion people worldwide that want to get into crypto and try decentralized apps but they don’t know where to begin. Geode is where to begin.
That is who we serve. We serve a humanity that is tired of their favorite web2 apps exploiting them; that is tired of everyone but them profiting off their time and attention and creativity. We serve a humanity that is tired of being blocked, and shadow banned and locked out.
2025 was about opening the doors. Thank you to our ambassadors who saw the potential before most and told everyone. Thank you to the early adopters who love to try new things. Thank you to Ariana and Northeastern University for our incredible partnership that keeps our tech team and marketing team flowing with bright minds and new ideas.
Thank you to the developers and marketers who have volunteered your time and genius behind the scenes to make Geode what it is today. To Christopher, Sophie, Aravind, Krunal, Ziyang, Alison, Preetham, Yun, Jona and Lucia. To the incoming team that will take Geode to the next level in 2026 and beyond.
They said you need big marketing budgets to attract a community. They were wrong. We have gathered a community of over 10 thousand and we did it on word of mouth, volunteers and a vision bigger than ourselves.
They said we were crazy to ignore telegram, close our Discord and focus our community on X. They said we would never get listed that way. They were wrong. My instinct was spot on and it turned out to be a really smart move.
Thank you to our market maker, Ville and the team at Volpex, who saw the vision over a year and a half ago, advised us, taught us and prepared us for this chapter. We would not be celebrating this day without you.
Thank you to BitMart who saw the potential in Geode and was excited to be the home of our primary listing. That tells you where the best new projects are going to be found. BitMart has been an absolute joy to work with through this whole process. Thank you Niki, Amber, and the tech team. You have made this such a great experience.
This listing marks the beginning of the second mile in the Geode marathon. Look at everything we built, just a team of volunteers with a big crazy idea who refused to quit. This listing is rocket fuel for our future. Now, imagine everything we will build from here over the next four years, 10 years, and 50 years to come.
