The last month has been, in one word, chaotic. Lots of things happening, many of them unexpected. Nearly all of them gifts, and few of them just plain strange. The chaos in the world at large has worked its way into my daily life and into my neighborhood. Rather than get bogged down in the details, as we humans are prone to do, I would rather focus on the overall effect. No matter what we experience, it is the effect of the situation that shows us where the gifts are, not the situation itself. The effect of all of this chaotic activity is the real need to let go and let God, the need for organization of home and thoughts, and allowing others to take over where they can.
For Geode, there is in increasing task list. More to do than can be done. But volunteers have arrived to do it all, letting me focus on strategy, the funding round, and other things that only I can do. At home, the energy of generalized chaos in the world has made it to my neighborhood and brought minor and still somewhat distant security threats near our home. The effect is that we are getting our security measures more in order. Standard for this time of year, we are getting our property in top shape for hurricane season (it’s a Florida thing).
As organized as I am (I love a good spreadsheet), I have really had to stay on top of keeping my thoughts, plans and information organized. Lots of things are moving quickly, from software development to marketing, Geode’s funding round, government outreach and legislative efforts at the federal and state level, community growth leading to the need for more management and leadership within the community and SO MUCH MORE.
One thing I know is this: the more chaotic your life feels, the more you feel like you are being tossed around in the surf, the closer you are to the beach. Big change is coming. It will get wilder and more chaotic, but then I will find myself on the beach of a new place, with new challenges, new learning and a new level of life. Until then, it’s about floating and allowing while staying as organized as I can.
