The last month has been an amazing dichotomy of events. My Mother In Law rejoined the light. Between Tom and I, we have lost two parents in eight months, and have been trying to help the two parents left behind to cope and rebuild. There was a baby shower for my soon to arrive granddaughter and the first child for my second-oldest son, and joyous achievements for my youngest son as he reached a dream he had been working on for years. A lot of joy amid a lot of sadness, and the circle of life on full display.
Meanwhile, we set out to Austin, Texas to go to our first crypto conference – Consensus2024! It was like other industry conferences with talks, and booths on the expo floor. But it was unlike anything you have seen in the side events (parties) that happen from morning till night (and all night) through the entire conference. We met the most fascinating people – polymaths and brilliant minds and just plain good people. Eccentric? Yes – but that’s the point. The crypto movement of today is a lot like the hippie movement of the 1960’s. Rebelling against the old ways, seeking freedom, and creating a counter-culture. It is all about freedom and this time it starts with financial freedom first. Everyone I met was kind, open and joyous. There is enough room for all of us to win, and every project to succeed in this young industry. The crypto industry is open and collaborative and such a joy.
