In less than a week, we are heading out of San Antonio and back towards Dallas / Ft Worth. We will be there for just one week while we see some friends, teach some workshops and get the last of our bus repairs. Preparing to roll out is not as simple as you might imagine. Just load up and roll, right? Nope. The day before will focus on loading up on groceries, doing all the laundry and giving the bus a good cleaning inside. The morning of travel, we load up the fresh water tank, empty the holding tanks, and “rig for sea.” Our Prevost is incredibly stable, but unexpected fast stops or bumpy roads can make things fall off of tables and clank around. So most things are put away and all the interior doors are locked in place, including the refrigerator. We start up the engine about 15 minutes ahead of departure to let it fast idle and get the air suspension system and air brakes up to pressure. Moving the tour bus is an all day effort. We are literally driving a bus. Slow and steady is the way to go. There is no stopping off for a quick coffee. We stop only where the semis stop. And let me tell you, you don’t want that coffee. But the road is a special kind of adventure and we find ourselves longing for the road again after about a month in one place. Dallas, here we come!
