I have not created any music or art since I put out the Purna Asatti album last April. It’s a little understandable. It was a massive project followed by starting lastingpeace.org, and preparing my house for sale inside and out. And a bunch of other poor excuses, I am sure. But at last, creativity has returned. It never really was gone, it was just smothered. It was covered up with all the other things. It took a trip to LA to bring it back. It’s not that LA brought it back. It’s that I allowed myself, for just a few days, to leave behind all the things that normally take a piece of my attention. With my attention having nowhere else to go, prodded towards new ideas by experiencing a new environment, it went back to the metaphorical studio. Writing and music poured out. So it seems I was never really disconnected from my creativity. As usual, to find your true self, you don’t need to add anything, you only need to remove what is getting in the way. The trick will be to maintain this when I get back home.
