This is going to get out pretty soon so let’s talk about money…

It has come to that point, when my time is in demand (by ME, but sometimes also by others) and I have to set some boundaries for the sake of my sanity and the quality of my work. When you are overloaded, you don’t do a very good job of anything. And we all know that if your time and attention is like a public bathroom (accessible to anyone), then all you get is a big mess and high stress levels. So practicing what I preach, I decided to set a few boundaries to make sure that my time and attention are preserved for my mission here on this Earth.

First – I am taking students, but only FOUR, for the whole year. (Want to be one of my students? Message me HERE). I do not charge my students, and do not intend to ever charge my students. Because the most disadvantaged and the most advantaged should have the same access to accelerate their development.

Anyone can send in questions for the podcast and I LOVE to get those. But individual meetings and events are another level of work entirely. Instead of just turning them all down out of fear that I would take on too much, I decided to be a little more open to the idea and to use rate structures to set healthy boundaries.

I decided that individual one-off meetings are $1700 USD per hour by phone, video chat or in person (at my location). Speeches, corporate group coaching and events are $17,000 USD per day plus travel.

WHY? There is a method to my madness. This structure is designed to do some important things…

1 – Filter out those who are not serious,

2 – Demonstrate that my time is of extraordinary value to ME and therefore should be respected at that level by others,

3 – Make it worth it for me to take that time away from other things,

4 – While still providing more value than I charge (yes… even at ten times the price),

5 – And ultimately it keeps demand down to a nice manageable level.

Do you need to consider a higher rate structure? Maybe. Regardless, it is worth it to make a filter (financial or otherwise) for the right people, demonstrate that your time is of extraordinary value to YOU and therefore should be respected at that level by others, and do some serious thinking about what your priorities are for your time and attention and what it would take to make you want to take away time from those priorities to do something else. Remember to deliver more value than you charge and to not be shy about asking for that more appropriate amount.
