Although our current rig (a 20 year old class C) is wonderful and fully tweaked out, we have been looking for some time for a more substantial tour bus that could handle our upcoming nonstop touring. And we have found it at last in perfect timing, of course! Meet “Silversides”, our “new” 1994 Prevost bus conversion by Marathon. This bus is HUGE. It’s is 45 feet long, 8.5 feet wide and 13.5 feet tall. It is essentially a semi trailer rolling down the road. It weighs in at 48,000 pounds fully loaded and is stainless steel from the frame to the chassis and the outside skin. The massive fuel tanks, water tanks, and full size refrigerator, plus tons of storage mean we can boondock for up to two weeks (as opposed to three days in our current rig). This will make a huge difference in our ability to do multi day workshops on college campuses, out in the forrest, and at other venues where hookups are not an option. It is getting some special attention and renovations before we pick it up next month. It will be a steep learning curve for sure as this rig has literally hundreds of buttons, valves, dials and features. Hence the name…. Silversides… in honor of Rueben’s submarine days aboard the Silversides herself. We are so excited to pick it up and start settling in.
